A Year of Care, Connection, and Renewal
In 2025, LEAF experienced a season of meaningful growth rooted in care, connection, and responsiveness to the Greater Lyons community. This growth was shaped by a deepened commitment to meeting neighbors where they are and strengthening the systems that support long-term wellbeing.
The fall marked an important transition as LEAF welcomed new Executive Director Jocelyn Farrell. Her leadership brought renewed energy and clarity to day-to-day operations while laying thoughtful groundwork for the future. This shift has allowed LEAF to listen more closely, adapt more nimbly, and ensure that care remains both steady and forward-looking.
Care for community also means care for place. Through Colorado’s Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) program, LEAF secured full state funding for multiple sustainability projects that will reduce environmental impact and lower long-term operating costs. A major milestone came this winter with the selection of a solar provider, with solar panels and battery backup anticipated this spring.
Volunteers remained the heart of LEAF’s work, particularly through consistent support of the food pantry and Meals on Wheels programs. Week after week, volunteers ensured that neighbors had reliable access to nourishment, stocking shelves and delivering meals that offered not only food, but connection and care. This steady presence was essential in meeting basic needs and reducing isolation for older adults and families facing hardship.
Beyond food access, volunteers also showed up in powerful ways across the community. Following the 2024 fire, LoV volunteers brought together nearly 100 community members to plant more than 2,000 trees in Stone Canyon, symbolizing restoration and hope. The Weed Posse marked its 10th anniversary by continuing its quiet stewardship of trails and public spaces that make Lyons feel like home.
As LEAF looks ahead, the focus remains intentional and hopeful. In the coming year, we will engage in comprehensive strategic planning, complete remaining sustainability projects, and continue delivering essential services that strengthen the fabric of our community. Together, we are not just responding to need, we are cultivating resilience, connection, and care in Lyons.
