We’re so excited to share that Shooting Star School is coming back this fall, thanks to the generous support of LEAF and the Lyons Community Foundation. This beloved program will welcome up to 13 girls in 4th and 5th grades for a season of connection, creativity, and growth.
Shooting Star School isn’t your typical after-school program. It’s a joyful, arts-integrated experience built around social-emotional learning, where girls come together to sing, move, play, and share. Through music, movement, and honest conversation, participants build the kind of confidence that comes from being truly seen and truly belonging.
At the heart of the program is SHINE, a framework that helps girls tune into their inner voices, learn to trust themselves, and discover what it feels like to take bold, powerful action in their own lives. These are lessons that go far beyond the classroom. They shape how a girl sees herself, how she treats others, and how she carries herself into the world.
For many participants, Shooting Star School becomes a highlight of their week. It’s a space where mistakes are welcomed as part of learning, where every voice matters, and where community is built one song, one game, and one shared story at a time.
LEAF is proud to help make this program possible. Investing in girls at this pivotal age, when confidence and identity are still taking shape, is investing in the future strength of our whole community. We’re grateful to the Lyons Community Foundation for standing alongside us in that work, and we can’t wait to see this year’s group of Shooting Stars shine.
Classes begin Thursday, September 10. Register below!
