A Warm Meal When It Matters Most
Is someone you care about finding it harder to prepare a daily hot meal, an older neighbor, a loved one living alone, or someone just home from the hospital?
Lyons’ Meals on Wheels, a program of LEAF, helps ensure no one in our community goes without nourishing food and a friendly visit. Serving neighbors from Hygiene to Blue Mountain, the program is available to adults 60+ and to individuals of any age recently discharged from a hospital or care facility. You don’t need to be homebound or meet income limits to qualify.
Through Project Homecoming, those returning home from a hospital stay can receive one week of meals at no cost. After that, meals are available five days a week on a sliding scale, ranging from $1–$4, with no one turned away for inability to pay.
Monday meals are generously donated by St. Vrain Market, and Tuesday–Friday meals are freshly prepared at the Longmont Senior Center and delivered warm by volunteers. Participants can choose which days they’d like meals, and there’s no waiting list, service can typically begin within a day or two of applying.
